SINGAPORE – From Jan 20 to Oct 31, eligible households can apply for public transport vouchers (PTVs) worth $60 each

online

or at community clubs to help them offset an increase in bus and train fares of up to 5 per cent since December 2025.

Eligible households need to have a monthly per capita income of not more than $1,800 and must not be among those who have already received PTVs in December 2025.

During these 10 months, households needing more help – including those that do not qualify based on the household income eligibility criterion – can also apply online or in person at their local community clubs, the Ministry of Transport and People’s Association said on Jan 19.

The PTVs can be used to top up fare cards or buy monthly passes. Each eligible household can get one voucher.

Around 300,000 households received physical or digital notification letters for the PTVs during the first stage of the exercise which took place in December 2025. These are households that had previously received vouchers during the PTV exercise in 2024, and continue to meet the income eligibility criterion.

After applying, eligible households will each receive a notification letter with instructions for redeeming the voucher via the SimplyGo app or at any SimplyGo Kiosk, Top-Up Kiosk, Assisted Service Kiosk, SimplyGo Ticket Office or SimplyGo Ticketing Service Centre.

The vouchers are valid for redemption until March 31, 2027.

Residents may approach their community clubs if they have questions.

Since Dec 27, 2025,

adult passengers have been paying

up to 50 cents more

to use an express bus service and up to 10 cents more for each regular bus or train ride, as part of a 5 per cent public transport fare hike.

Seniors, students, people with disabilities and low-wage workers enjoying concessionary fares pay up to three to four cents more for a regular bus or train journey, and 20 to 24 cents more for an express bus ride.

These increases apply to payments made by debit, credit or fare cards.
